We're told that a certain action is impossible, until it isn't, or that a certain thing would never happen, and then it does, so even with all those lives on the line, the movie can't effectively build up stakes or consequences.

Chris Nashawaty Comment The Finest Hours

Name : Chris Nashawaty / Alias : Entertainment Weekly
While its first-act romance has a sweetly nostalgic, Andy Hardy glow, and its high-seas action sequences are mildly thrilling, The Finest Hours ultimately feels too harmless and predictable to fully surrender to.

Name : Stephen Whitty / Alias : Newark Star-Ledger
The movie's all ship, no crew. We get lots of effects, but little emotion. We're awash in spectacle - car crashes, sinking tankers, storm-tossed boats - but the human element is mostly forgotten.

Name : Andrew Barker / Alias : Variety
The whole cast and crew all put in a solid shift at the office making the movie, producing a perfectly entertaining, sometimes quite well-crafted disaster drama that nonetheless retreats from the memory almost as soon as the credits roll.

Name : Sheri Linden / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
Gillespie isn't able to conjure a stirring cinematic experience. The pieces don't fuse so much as fit together, and much of the action feels instructive rather than immersive.

Comment For Gods Of Egypt Full Movie Free

Name : Will Leitch / Alias : The New Republic
Gods of Egypt is a movie that requires more effort to sit through than it did to make it.

Name : Alan Scherstuhl / Alias : Village Voice
As bad movies go, this one at least is all-in on its badness.

Name : Soren Anderson / Alias : Seattle Times
See it if you dare.

Name : Scott Tobias / Alias : NPR
Many of the images in Gods of Egypt would make for a fetching prog-rock album cover, but Proyas has populated his digital paradise with banal characters, cherry-picked mythology, and a score just a few notes off from Lawrence of Arabia.

Name : Chris Nashawaty / Alias : Entertainment Weekly
A shoddy special-effects howler that makes a hash out of both Egyptian mythology and human logic.

Name : Alonso Duralde / Alias : TheWrap
Might have merited a so-bad-it's-good schadenfreude fanbase had it maintained the unintentional laughs of the first ten minutes. Instead, it skids into dullness, thus negating the camp classic that it so often verges on becoming.

Name : Stephen Whitty / Alias : New York Daily News
Director Alex Proyas' movie feels like a bad video game.

Name : Manohla Dargis / Alias : New York Times
I enjoyed "Gods of Egypt" despite the lazily generic non-story, the dubious Eurocentric casting and (intentionally?) unconvincing effects that make you wonder (another imponderable) why they didn't just make this an animated picture.

Name : Peter Travers / Alias : Rolling Stone
What raises Gods of Egypt above all other historically botched FX epics is the stupefying schlock of its visual effects, they're like something out of Video Aps for Dummies. Come back, Clash of the Titans, all is forgiven.

Name : Colin Covert / Alias : Minneapolis Star Tribune
Overstocked, overstuffed and overlong, "Gods of Egypt" packs a squadron of immediately forgettable mythological deities into 127 inefficient minutes.

Ignatiy Vishnevetsky Comment Gods Of Egypt

Name : Ignatiy Vishnevetsky / Alias : AV Club
A wannabe franchise-starter that feels like it was adapted from a tabletop role-playing game, with strict rules that need to be repeatedly stated out loud and a bestiary of creatures.

Name : Anna King / Alias : Time Out
It seems as though a decent chunk of the Gods of Egypt budget went toward Butler's skin bronzer - money that would have been better spent on the cheap-looking special effects, which appear to be culled from Ghostbusters II.

Name : Frank Scheck / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
Oh, dear.

Name : Adam Graham / Alias : Detroit News
No one is confusing "Gods of Egypt" with strong storytelling. But for a mindless whir of crazy visuals, you can do a lot worse.

Name : Peter Howell / Alias : Toronto Star
[An] ungodly jumble of a mortals-versus-deities rumble, placed in the time before the pyramids were tourist attractions.

Name : Mick LaSalle / Alias : San Francisco Chronicle
Butler charges around, flexing his muscles and growling, maybe throwing in a few snarls and snorts, and he's nothing but boring. He's the best thing in the movie.

Name : Justin Chang / Alias : Variety
This is by any measure a dreadful movie, a chintzy, CG-encrusted eyesore that oozes stupidity and self-indulgence from its every pore.

James Berardinelli Comment Gods Of Egypt

Name : James Berardinelli / Alias : ReelViews
If one is going to make special effects the focus of a movie, they need to be good special effects, and that's not the case here. Proyas' ideas are never fully translated from imagination to screen.

Name : Bilge Ebiri / Alias : New York Magazine/Vulture
If it wasn't all CGI, I would have said I hope they saved the sets for another, better movie.

Name : Michael Phillips / Alias : Chicago Tribune
Call it "Clash of the Whitans," and call it a folly that doesn't have the energy or delirium to qualify as entertaining crap. It's just crap.

Name : David Sims / Alias : The Atlantic
Gods of Egypt gets lost in its own budget, constantly shooting to outdo its visual grandeur but forgetting to lend it any depth. But there's a mad ambition at work.

Name : Amy Nicholson / Alias : MTV
It's tempting to dismiss Gods of Egypt as the most perfectly bad film I've ever seen. But that's not fair. It's perfectly itself - a bizarre, yet cohesive, construction.

Name : Kyle Smith / Alias : New York Post
The "Battlefield Earth" of sword-and-sorcery movies.

Name : Rafer Guzman / Alias : Newsday
If it didn't make you constantly wonder whether some actors are standing closer to the camera than others, "Gods of Egypt" might pass muster as an occasionally lively and frequently campy B movie.

Name : Jocelyn Noveck / Alias : Associated Press
Gods of Egypt is also a just plain bad movie. The plot is confusing, yet boring. The visuals look expensive, yet cheesily fake. And the performances are uninteresting, yet . well, they're just uninteresting.

Name : Brad Wheeler / Alias : Globe and Mail
It's hard to take it all nearly as seriously as the actors (including a braided-pony-tailed, top-god-playing Geoffrey Rush in a spaceship!) do.

Name : Britton Peele / Alias : Dallas Morning News
Goosebumps is chock full of fun moments whether they're all logical or not, and it's an adventure that should appeal to both young viewers new the series and older readers who devoured them as kids.

Name : Stephanie Merry / Alias : Washington Post
The production values are better suited for a television movie, and the music, by Danny Elfman, is distractingly intrusive.

Name : Molly Eichel / Alias : Philadelphia Inquirer
Goosebumps fulfills its purpose, and that's what matters.

Name : Bill Goodykoontz / Alias : Arizona Republic
The film goes too wide and gets a little soft at the end, but not fatally so. It's the rare horror film - well, sort of horror - that you and your children can enjoy together.

Name : A.A. Dowd / Alias : AV Club
As effects-heavy time-wasters go, Goosebumps is mostly harmless, even sporadically amusing. But it isn't likely to keep anyone up at night, out of fear or excitement.

Name : Tom Russo / Alias : Boston Globe
It's the best treat we've gotten this Halloween, and definitely not just a bigger-budgeted version of the "Goosebumps" seen on TV.

Name : James Berardinelli / Alias : ReelViews
At a guess, I'd say that Goosebumps will satisfy its core audience - fans of R.L. Stine's popular children's books - and bore pretty much everyone else.

Name : Alan Scherstuhl / Alias : Village Voice
The filmmakers, to their great credit, spend more than half the running time bending their studio tentpole release to the spirit of Stine rather than cramming Goosebumps into their template.

Name : Kyle Smith / Alias : New York Post
A special-effects extravaganza that skips over basics like coming up with an interesting origination myth for the creepy creatures who bring havoc to a sleepy suburb.

Name : Adam Graham / Alias : Detroit News
Goosebumps isn't detached or ironic, nor does it pretend to be something it's not. It's a bonus for fans who pored over the books and it celebrates the fun side of things going bump in the night.

Name : Kevin P. Sullivan / Alias : Entertainment Weekly
It's a never-boring trip to a world, where stories and imagination are powerful tools, that just might inspire kids to do the scariest thing of all: pick up a book.

Name : Geoff Berkshire / Alias : Variety
Turns an endearing collection of silly spooky stories into a busy, noisy, soulless eyesore.

Name : Bruce Kirkland / Alias : Toronto Sun
This Goosebumps ride may be bumpy, but it works and it is worthwhile.

Name : Bill Zwecker / Alias : Chicago Sun-Times
Black gets to show us his ability to play nasty, distant and angry - all in a way we really have never seen from him before. The bottom line is: It works perfectly.

Name : Linda Barnard / Alias : Toronto Star
Jillian Bell's brief scenes as Zach's Bedazzling-obsessed singleton aunt are fun. So is Darren Lemke's solid script, which leans heavily on groaners and bad jokes to balance scares.

Name : Peter Travers / Alias : Rolling Stone
Jack Black fires up a stampede of comic terrors ready made for Halloween. Sure it's exhausting. But Goosebumps, knowing its audience, lets it rip.

Name : Glenn Whipp / Alias : Los Angeles Times
I have no idea as to the extent of the actual Stine's peculiarities, but just going from his weird, wonderful work, every scene in the movie feels authentic compared with the version I carry of him in my head.

Name : Stephen Whitty / Alias : Newark Star-Ledger
The pace is great, with the last hour being an all-out monster attack, as all of Stine's creatures - a werewolf, zombies, a mummy, murderous garden trolls and a particularly sarcastic ventriloquist's dummy - go on the rampage.

Name : Peter Hartlaub / Alias : San Francisco Chronicle
Happily, the filmmakers build a reservoir of goodwill in the first hour.

Name : Bilge Ebiri / Alias : New York Magazine/Vulture
It's a cheerful, nasty delight.

Name : Inkoo Kang / Alias : TheWrap
Goofily self-aware and wholesomely boisterous, it's a children's picture whose sense of spooky fun readily diverts from its quibble-worthy messaging.

Name : Nicolas Rapold / Alias : New York Times
"Goosebumps" would seem to yield the serial pleasures a voracious Stineophile might desire.

Name : Kate Taylor / Alias : Globe and Mail
It gently mocks the traditions of the genre - giant preying mantis rips roof off high school - while never getting too frightening.

Name : Colin Covert / Alias : Minneapolis Star Tribune
A tongue-in-cheek love note to spook stories of yesteryear, "Goosebumps" is a kid-friendly crowd pleaser adults can love, too.

Name : Michael Rechtshaffen / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
An amusing, fearlessly over-the-top screen rendering of the book franchise.
